Wiggity – Wiggity – Whack

While we’re on lists involving music that maybe we don’t all like, list your favorite rap songs. If you have a favorite rapper, feel free to “give a 40 his props,” as I understand they say, or give a shout out to your boys in whichever cell block they happen to call home (as mandated by the state or federal government).

I’m just givin it up for BIG.

Peace, out.

And then the following Beastie Boys songs: Shadrach, Root Down, Paul Revere, Hey Ladies, and Get it Together (with Q Tip)

That’s all I can think of right now. I may add more when I get home and look at my mp3s.

In related news, I was at a gas station once, pumping gas, & I noticed someone had etched Deez Nutz by the place you swipe the credit card.

And Ky, I’m surprised you didn’t include Big Poppa by Robert Goulet. Oh and I totally remember shop class & Buzby hollering for them to play Iesha again.

  4. Others to add to mine:

Insane in the Brain – Cypress Hill
    Si Senor – Control Machete
Me Comprendes Mendez – Control Machete
    Still D-R-E – Dr Dre
    Bad (dd) Runner – mcchris

That’s a lot for a list, but I really don’t like that much rap, so this is a fairly large percentage – at least a huge percentage of the rappers I like anyway.

  5. Eric B. and Rakim – Microphone Fiend
    NWA – Straight Outta Compton
    Dr. Dre – Still D.R.E.
    Run DMC – My Adidas

Eazy-E – Boys in the Hood
    NWA – F*ck Tha Police
Snoop Dogg – Who Am I?

Honorable mention to Cypress Hill and Public Enemy.

If mexican rap is what you’re after, check out Control Machete. Their main dude, Fermin IV, left the group in 2002, so if you don’t know espanol & don’t wanna have to wonder if your music is offending wholesome mexicans within earshot, you can always try his solo album out…

  16. Let me update my list of rappers (and groups) I particularly like:

Tricky (although I don’t think he refers to himself as a rapper)
    mcchris
    Snoop Dogg
    Humpty/Shock G from Digital Underground
Prince (when he does rap it’s good — he just has a good voice)
    Control Machete
    Beastie Boys
Dr Dre (when you diss Dre, you diss yourself
    Mos Def
    Warren G

  17. I do not like rap. However,

as trashy as he is Enemim has some funny songs.

    Outkast
    A tribe called Quest
    Beastie Boys
    Busta Rhymes
    ODB
    Wu-Tang Clan

But it is only like a song or two and for no more than 10 minutes.

311 – They kinda rap. I like them.

  18. Forgot De La Sol – sorry.

  19. OK.. top 10 but not necessarily in order (mostly older stuff)

Not top 10.. but honorable mentions that have popped into my head (or more recent stuff)
Who Let These Hoes In my Room- Ludacris and friends
    Still Fly- Big Tymers
    Big Pimpin’- JayZ
Top Back – TI and Grande Hustle Team
Poppn’ My Collar- Three 6 Mafia

  20. Jules you totally for got Area Codes by Ludacris. That will always stay in my top 10 :0)

  21. Jules, what happened to Shake Your Money Maker?

  22. Big Papa- Notorious B.I.G.

Throw your hands in the air if you think you’re a playa!

  23. very nice list julie, there’s acouple here i haven;t actually heard. i’m not a big ludacris fan i guess.but i may give him a try. I always like a guy who includes the word “hoes” in half of his song titles.

for the next few hours i am going to lock the doors and actually come up with a top ten, hopefully in order, that may take an extra hour.

  24. What’s enjoyable is to look at the top of this list of comments and see Calvin Coolidge listing off his fav rap songs.

  25. that adds a lot of credibility to your website

  26. This is one of the best threads I’ve seen in a long time: Charts and graphs of rap song lyrics

  27. Reminds me of a great Weekend Update joke.
    >Polaroid is warning customers not to listen to the part of the Outkast song “Hey Ya” that tells people >to “shake it like a Polaroid picture”, because that could actually ruin the pictures. While, in a related story, >Bacardi is warning shorties to be responsible and not sip Bacardi like it’s “dey birfday.”
Also, Shortys (sic) birfday seems to be very close to mine (or perhaps Kyle’s).

  28. this is a good weird al rap
