Video Shot the Sheriff
MTV is the devil. Now that we got that out of the way, what are your favorite music videos of all time? You don’t necessarily have to like the song itself — we’re just focusing on the video. Kevin, if that means (as with your favorite album covers list) you just pick the videos with the hottest girls in it, I guess that’s up to you. As always, feel free to list the ones you hate too.

Take on Me – A-Ha
Mary Jane’s Last Dance – Tom Petty
Stan – Eminem
All That I’ve Got – The Used
I’m Not Okay – My Chemical Romance
Seven Deadly Sins – Flogging Molly
One – Metallica
Coin Operated Boy – The Dreseden Dolls
Closer – Nine Inch Nails
Concrete Angel – Martina McBride
Honorable Mention goes to Once in a Lifetime – Talking Heads. Mostly because it’s kind of the worst video ever as well.
The Black Crowes – Remedy
Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun
Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit
Van Halen – Hot for Teacher
George Michael – Freedom
Weezer – Buddy Holly
Matthew Sweet – Girlfriend
R.E.M. – Stand
R.E.M. – Losing My Religion
Modest Mouse – All Shine On (or whatever that song is called)
OutKast – Hey Ya
Fat – Weird Al Yankovic
Secret Ambition – MWS
Lead Me On – AG
That’s What Love is For – AG
The Color Green – Rich Mullins
Angels (for humor value) -AG
Billie Jean – Michael Jackson. Greatest of all time. Other videos aren’t even worth mentioning.
I agree with the first post, Once in a Lifetime is the absolute worst video of all time. Laugh out loud bad.
Weird Al doing Jacko’s routine move-by-move in the pool hall during Eat It is one of the funniest, most awkward things ever captured on video. (Okay, that sounded a little like James Lipton there, but really, it’s funny.)
These weren’t as easy for me to come up with as I thought they’d be. Will I be shunned for bringing up a popular fav, Right Now by Van Halen?
Weezer’s had a couple good ones. The Fonz doing the Russian dance is never a bad thing (song=Buddy Holly), and, as I’ve said before, when you get to the point where you can have the Muppets in your music video, you know you’ve made it big (song=Keep Fishin’).
I can’t freaking believe I left Weapon of Choice off my list. That’s gotta go near the top.
1. Ok Go is pretty cool.
2. I cannot get enough of this video.
It’s so very simple and sort of feels like a mockery of all music videos. Pay special attention to the dude with the pink shirt and vest – QUALITY.
The kid in the Hulk shirt provides an extra dose of creepy.
Ok, this has apparently just become my thread, so here’s what I found today

Good call on Get Yourself High by the Chemical Brothers. This is a classic. Great song, great video. Best part of course being the headphones and the boombox around the neck.

i actually took the time to watch the b4 4 “get down” video, the song is the least suttle song ever, the video raises many questions though, are they gay for young black guys? Why are they orange?

at about the 2:20 minute mark it goes from horrible to even more horrible. and the second line of the chorus “how the f@$% do we supposed to keep peace” these are some very deep lyrics.
here is the censored version kinda funny for a few seconds

The funniest things about
It’s So Cold in the D (Clean)
1. On some of the later choruses, they are like a full eighth note off the beat
2. The impossible grammar of “how the f@$% do we posta keep peace”
3. The bleep sounds like that tone from those hearing tests we took in elementary
Scott, you’re dead-on about the bleep. It’s rather loud and just different enough from what is generally used. It’s definitely more like a hearing test. (At this point in this comment I spent way too long looking for a picture of those old blue headphones we used in elementary school. I was unsuccessful.)
Also, I think “impossible grammar” is the perfect way to describe that series of words (and almost-words).

I also thought this picture was really cute.
Webcam music video: Sour
I know this video was mentioned several times in above posts, but I wanted to post a quick link here for Scott to check out Weezer’s Buddy Holly. (Some people were trying to describe the song to him while he had an unimpressed look on his face)

(I’m in a very boring meeting right now.)
When this video came out I remember watching it over and over again to find some 50 references to Beatle history. Wikipedia says there’s 80-100. I can’t find nearly that many.
Can anyone spot Creed?
