The Office Space
Okay, per Kevin’s suggestion, here’s a new thread specifically for discussion The Office. Just assume this thread contains spoilers, so if you’re not up to date w/ current issues, you may wanna be careful reading this thread.
I think this is generally a good idea, so if there’re other shows a lot of us watch (that would *not* include the Dukes of Hazzard, Kev), go ahead & add a new topic for it. Coincidentally, the current shows I’m really into now are Lost, The Office, Arrested Development, Family Guy & American Dad. I’ve also started going through the DVDs of the British version of The Office.
Okay, so here you go. Talk about The Office. This week’s was rather good, w/ the desert island stuff…
Get it on!

has anyone else been watching the office??? It probably deserves it’s own thread for a discussion of the funny stuff every week.
two things
1) we should have an office party if someone has them all tivo’d
2) who would you like to “do” (i would definately have sex with ryan the intern (actually i would “do” pam, but that was hilarious when carrell said that))
3) Who is better looking: Pam or Dawn (British version)?
Pam, hands down. Very cute.
BTW, I started watching season one of the British ver. *Very* solid. All those who promised me I’d love it: it did not disappoint.
Atually, I think giving The Office its own thread is prob a good idea… I’ll do that now.
Okay, a couple things from tonight’s ep:
Dwayne as the Sith Lord was awesome.
Fact: Sexy Cat is the best possible costume for all women. The writers clearly know this.
Besides that, pretty lame episode… My Name is Earl was good this week though…
I thought last night was good, by far the best part was after he fired the guy, he offered him a coupon to chili’s, i laughed out loud on that one.
Big fan, Bill. It’s Dwight. ‘Skiddin. Not about his name being Dwight, but about me mocking you.
Off topic, but since Bill mentioned “My Name is Earl,” I about lost it when Earl’s ex-wife (is her name Darleen?) said about her neighbor “Chinese, Vietnamese, or Chucky Cheese, I don’t care what she is.” And Randy’s comment to when Earl’s class shows up “Look Earl, it is Karma’s army. And they are made up of all the world’s different races” (or something to that effect) had me rolling.
I believe it was “different races of all the different worlds”, noting that the Chucky Cheese are from another planet.
Yeah, I agree. My Name is Earl was solid this week. I know I’ve said it b/f to some of you, but you gotta admire that dude’s willingness to look like total white trash for his show.
& am I the only one who thought The Office was a little under par this week? I’ve only watched it once, so maybe the second time around I’ll like it a little better…
Yeah, I was at Manda’s parents’ house for dinner & we watched Earl & The Office just before we left. It was the first time her folks had seen either show. Earl got some laughs (and a few “What has happened to TV”), but we left before The Office was over. The concensus was that the show was just plain not funny.
I was a little confused myself. I don’t watch it regularly, but have liked those I had seen. I felt like I had imagined how funny it used to be.
Okay, not to steer this conversation further away from The Office, but you folks who watch Lost, who are your favorite characters?
Besides the incomparable Kate, I really like Sayid and Hurley.
Oh, & no Lost spoilers. I’m still in season 1 here…
I like John Locke. Oh, and the blonde chick who is getting it on with Sayid isn’t too bad either.
huh,
i didn;t ask bill to put up an office thread so you guys could talk about being lost. At least pick a tv show somewhat related to the office. Lost, prison break, gay porn they all belong in thier own thread.
OK, back to The Office, of which I am a huge fan. Bill – glad you are enjoying the British version. The fourth episode (where they bring in the outside consultant) might be the greatest sitcom episode of all time.
I especially enjoyed David Koeckner as Todd Packer from a few weeks back. Couldn’t be as crass as Chris Finch in the British version, but a nice solid effort nonetheless.
I’ve never seen Lost. I don’t know that I have time for another TV show in my life since I am actively invovled in Arrested Development, The Office, My Name is Earl, Boston Legal (great show), Desperate Housewives, The Biggest Loser, Malcom in the Middle, Family Guy reruns, and The Godfather and The Godfather II whenever they are on.
excellent show, although watching Michael sitting on top of dwight spitting a lugie into him reminded me of jason tanton. Really the only problem wasn tehre weren’t enough of the extra characterslike kevin and those guys.
Michael calling the temp over adn over was funny, although his obsession with the temp is a little weird.
Bill Johnson
Assistant
to theRegional Manager.oh i also should say the part where TOby asked michael to sign the papers cause they can;t go hom euntil he does sign them, michael replied, “what do you care you have nothing to go home to anyway.”
how bad is that, very funny
From last night:
: Listen to the pauses, Michael. You can learn a lot from the silences in a woman’s conversation.
: Did you learn that on the street? From the ghetto?
: Yes.
…
It’s all about the bonus.
I heard they made out, then they had sex
I heard they just made out
I heard they made ou tthen they had sex
Dwight psyching himself up for his review was pretty sweet. A *little* over the top, but sweet nonetheless…
So this week’s was where Michael’s reading everyone’s email & he crashes the party… Am I the only one who was annoyed w/ them saying “emails?” As in, plural email… They used it a few times. Take the “E” off, ppl. “I went to the mailbox when I got home from my trip & got all my mails for the week.”
I hope that I did this right Bill. Anyway, this week’s episode of “The Office” made me think of a few things.
First off, Kyle maybe you remember my memo when I tried to request a day off at MES and got a brilliant memo back from the main man that said Oops in boldface….
Also when Michael said Big Brother makes people nervous, reminded me of having to read that book, 1984 for Mrs. Canniff’s class and having to do the class presentations on it. I remember being totally lost because I never would finish reading the chapters for homework because it bored me. Does any MHS alumi relate?
I can’t begin to relate to this, Bek, b/c I always read every assignment several times through to make sure I completely grasped it. This pattern continued through college, and really contributed to my always writing papers that contained nothing but dead-on reflections and hard-hitting facts extracted directly from the text. This is also the case in my book club.
Bill, just so I don’t sound like a slacker, I didn’t feel this way for all the assignments. Just when we had to read 1984, Beowulf and The Canterbury Tales… I kinda felt like shouting out, “Does anyone think this is stupid”, as notoriously stated several times by Rob Robertson.
Bek, I was totally kidding. I’m not sure I’ve ever read an entire book in my life. & I have an English degree crumbled somewhere between the couch cushions…
let it be know that i will from this day forward always refer to more than one email as “emails”, kinda like i shop at kmarts and i wear underwears under my pants.
the office was pretty good, i liked the improv class, but i think they could;ve done better with it. if i were smart i would give ideas on how to make it better butwhat can i say.
and as for all the garbage we had to read in english i never read any of it and i turned out fine, well my english skills pretty much suck but other than that i turned out pretty good, well no i am pretty much a total lose r and i blame it all on not reading the caturbury tales.
sincerely Kevin logged in as scott (i didn’t notice he logged me out til i was done writing)
It was funny and yet a little creepy how Dwight’s elf ears matched his skin color perfectly.
It was too funny when Michael stated, “Sorry Jesus for screwing up your birthday party” or something of the sort and then the next scene he is buy all the vodka from the liquor store.
This week’s was esp good, I thought. Oh geez, how awesome to get some more Todd Packer (not this one).
I just wanna say, in the spirit of Xmas, I love you all “this many dollars worth.”
BTW, has anyone heard it called Yankee Swap?
I hadn’t, but apparently it has Official Rules. (Warning: PDF)
Todd Packer: “What’s up my nerdz???” Great entrance.
Todd Packer’s mistletoe…
Did we all remember that The Office & My Name is Earl changed nights last night? Anyway, new ones were good all around…
As far as The Office goes, I didn’t car for the captain — don’t like that guy on SNL either, whatever his name is — but the rest of the ep was pretty solid. The Jim-Pam thing is extremely frustrating. I wonder how many of you have watched the brit ver though & know how it all ended up there…
Okay, quick observation/gripe. Maybe it’s because I was watching the brit ver again this week, but is it me or has The Office lost all traces of subtlety? I mean, Carrell isn’t remotely subtle as an actor, & that’s fine, but this week’s ep was just out of control. Granted, part of that was due to uncharacteristic behavior by Dwight, due to head trauma, but I think it’s also gotten worse as the other actors have settled into their characters (or the writers, or whoever we wanna blame). Jim, for instance, is just much more outwardly snotty, as are some of the other chars.
I guess I’m a little afraid that this show is going to lose all connection from the original, which will just make it annoying. (But prob successful since the American public is a bunch of monkeys.)
I mentioned this to Bill the other day, but if you guys saw last week’s episode of The Office (the one where Michael burns his foot on the George Foreman Grill), my wife and I went to college with the guy in the wheelchair that Michael calls in to speak with the group. My wife was a social work major as was he, so she knew him pretty well (he started acting while in college and finally made a go of it). I didn’t know him very well because I try to avoid physically handicapped people, which makes going to any store parking lot living hell. Seriously though, I always thought he was kind of a jerk.
“A Great Scott Production” – and the way he says “Great Scott”. That was great.
“New York, New York… This city is so great it has two names. The other name is Manhattan.”
Remember when ryan was getting coffee, and stanley daughter kept hitting on him?
Don;t you hate when 9th grade girls flirt with you and you get a little uncomfortable, and you don;t want to be mean.
Oh and i love Kevin, when his daughter asked jim to come over, he says, “you never have plans.” then when jim says he has a date, he says,”Nice.”
he cracks me up
I really like it when Kevin says “Nice” too. He’s done that a handful of times. & if you like him, then this is good news here.
From tonight’s ep:
MICHAEL: Hey Pam, all this stuff with Kevin… It’s pretty scary. I’m thinkin that next time you’re in the shower you should check yourself out, you know, (making squeezing gestures toward his chest) give yourself an exam. Those things are like ticking time-bags.
Throughout all of NBC’s lineup on Thursday the cast from The Office did “The More You Know” PSAs. They were so funny! Pam was talking about saving wedding invitations, Dwight talked about the dangers of black and brown bears and Ryan was talking about how 5′9″ is average, not short.
Check them out here.
A gem from the first season:
(Ryan and Michael are cleaning out Michael’s car)
Ryan: Do you want this sports drink?
Michael: What flavor?
Ryan: Blue.
Michael: Blue’s not a flavor.
Ryan: It says, “Flavor: Blue Blast.”
Michael: “Oh, Blue Blast. Yeah, that’s good. Give me that.”
The formula for Michael’s supposed drug scenario in last week’s ep was great:
1) Alicia Keys concert
2) Girl w/ a lip ring
3) Clove cigarettes
Also, the exchange b/t Michael & Toby re: hookah was awesome.
Michael Scott
Anyone ever check out Dwight’s “blog” on nbc.com? Good stuff – reference to Sammy Hagar in this weeks.
Also loved how Kevin thought Michael coughing “narc” was funny.
I’m not real big on the whole MySpace thing that the kids are into (although I do have a “space” now that just points to this site), but I will mention that I requested an “add” from one Pam Beesley. She will most likely fall madly in love with me. And then she & Dwight will fight for my hand.
Well now… How about that finale?
Oh, & Pam added me. Yay!
I second that. What a great finale. And Pam finally got to do something different with her hair!
I also read, in my highly educational magazine, “OK,” that The Office is going to do 10 short Web episodes. I’ll keep you informed as I learn more (I get the magazine every Saturday).
The first two summer web episodes (starring the accounting staff) have been posted. More every Thursday, I believe…
Season premiere last night was solid.
DWIGHT: Jim told me you can buy gaydar online.
ANGELA: (On homosexuality, in general) Sure, sometimes I watch Will and Grace…
Michael: There’s oscar’s roomate gil, i wonder if he knows?
Ed helms was sweet on daily show i hope he does good on the office. and michael looking up gay porn while oscar was there was so uncomfortable it was awesome.
An episode which was, by the way, entirely substandard. Especially since I waited all summer to watch it. Had much more fun watching Earl, which is usually not the case.
[comment moved from here -- WBJ]
Okay, so first off, I wanna take this opportunity to once again encourage all of you to rent/buy the DVDs and watch the british version of The Office, if you haven’t already…
The two shows *kinda* share characters. Like, David and Michael are the same, Gareth and Dwight, Dawn and Pam… For some reason I’ve decided to combine the two rosters, choosing one char over the other, sort of making a composite of my favourites:
David Brent
Dwight Schrute
Pam Beesly
Tim Canterbury
Ryan Howard
Keith Bishop
Phyllis Lapin
Todd Packer
Angela Martin
Lee
Jennifer Clarke
Stanley Hudson
Toby
A lot of the characters don’t match up though, I guess. The toughest choices though were Dwight over Gareth, Todd Packer over Chris Finch, and to a lesser extent Keith over Kevin.
But anyway, this is my “office” team…
I’d agree with you on all of these. I would love to see Todd Packer with the latitude of the British version. He would have been incredible.
I like that girl who Jim’s been flirting with. The British version had Tim with a girlfriend, but she wasn’t very likable. This girl is likable and cute, so I would say to Jim, stay away from Pam – she’s already rejected you twice – and go for Karen. Also, perhaps, I need to get a life.
Random thought, gang: Kelly Kapur is a fun name to say.
Kyle, I recognized Jim’s new gal from Freaks & Geeks. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0429069/
And BTW, your so right! They should totally hook up! :)
Alright, I know, I know – I have no life.
First off, I wanna encourage you all to settle for nothing less than Pam… And secondly:
Scott, that made me nauseous. Of course I know that’s effect you intended, so well done.
i like the office, but i don;t want it to be a soap opera, so the less time they spend on the love story the better. aspend more time on ed helms saying he wants to kill jim in real life cause he is using a sniper rifle.
And disagree with bill Kevin is by far better than the fat guy on the british version. he didn;t even say anything. kevin telling toby that if he wasn;t engaged he would be all over that (pam). british fat guy neer had any classic lines like that
the best part of the office was when pam left with roy then she came back and they were waiting on her.
and Kevin who bill hates, told the story of weekend at bernies, that was pretty funny.
Oh geez… I said it was a hard decision. I *like* Kevin, I just would pick Keith for my Office All-Stars team if I absolutely had to choose.
Kyle, you’re w/ me, right? Anyone else, or are you all gonna let Kev just push you around? (You should instead let me push you around)
Scott, I was looking at her again last night, & I just do not remember her from F&G…
It does look like Kyle will get his wish though, b/c they are so obvioulsy gonna do it.
My favorite line from last night:
Michael: There is such a thing as good grief. Just ask Charlie Brown.
Keith and Kevin are both solid – but Keith gets the nod for the “first team” based on this classic conversation with Tim:
(talking about what they did last night)
Keith: “I watched that Peak Practice.”
Tim: “Yeah, I’ve never seen it.”
Keith: “Bloody repeat.”
Tim: “Annoying innit?”
Keith: “Not for me, I hadn’t seen it. Boring isn’t it? Just staying in, watching Peak Practice with your life.”
Tim: “mmm, yeah.”
Keith: “Not for me. I like it.”
Tim: “Yeah, I just stayed in, had a big wank”
http://www.quotesfromtheoffice.com/
Michael Scott: Alright, Kevin… you are accused of making sexually suggestive remarks to Angela, that made her feel uncomfortable. Solution: Angela, you are to make sexually suggestive remarks to Kevin that make him feel uncomfortable.
Kevin Malone: [quickly] I accept your decision. Cameraman: Smile.
my season 2 highlights,
1) Michael Scott dancing on the booze cruise, i literally watched it 5-10 times
2) when the office finds out jim has a crush on pam, kevin and creed are talking, kevin says, “do you know jim has a crush on pam?”
Creed replies, “ahhh, which one is she?” (jim’s favorite line ever according to the commentaries)
3) in the bring your children to work, dwight playing greensleeves on his recorder then telling a story about a guy cutting off thumbs with scissors, and making cornhusk dolls
4) sexual harrassment episode:
Michael: And, even though we’re still a family here at Dunder-Mifflin, families grow. And, at some point, the daddy can’t take a bath with the kids anymore. I am upper management, and it would be inappropriate for me to take a bath with Pam, as much as I might want to.
Pam: He said WHAT?
oh and this todd packer gem from sexual harassment:
Todd: Where’s Michael Snot? Sniffing some dude’s thong?…probably.
Last week’s ep (pretzel day, Dwight & Ryan’s country training) featured the name “Mose” — Dwight’s cousin. As in, Uncle Mose from Conn’s Potato Chip lore.
Apparently The Office is bringing back the world-champion sexy…
I wish I had the “Black Eyed Peas” as a ring tone.
I tried to stop someone this morning from drinking the poisonous coffee but I failed.
Ah, that’s what that ringtone was. I thought I recognized it… Lisa would consider that some sort of “product placement,” I’m sure, but sometimes I think it’s just a matter of the funniest choice.
You’re wrong again Bill. When it comes to music in TV shows, etc. it’s a whole other ball game. If you play less than 30 seconds (I think), you can get away with it without paying rights. Also, songs that you want to use can be adjusted ever so slightly so legally they are a whole new song, but to the viewer/listner you can’t tell. We did this with the song, “You made me love you,” during my time at the ad agency. Interesting stuff.
I’m guessing that the writers thought that ringtone would make viewers, like Mike, chuckle and was an appropriate selection for the character.
Couple things about this week’s ep:
Pam’s face after Michael’s GI comment was money. Also, Andy Bernard (Ed Helms‘ char) needs to go away immediately. Before he just bugged me, but now he’s actually making things less funny. And bringing other characters down. That exchange b/t him & Dwight at the end was just awful.
Oh, & here’s Lazy Scranton:
Great show last night. I’ll give Helms credit for the “Night at the Roxburry” scene. Otherwise I agree with you. Stanley’s face when the other guy gave him the fist pump was great.
However, points off for the shameless product placement. I mean having a can of Pepsi on the desk is one thing – writing an entire scene and plot line for a product is another. That’s about the worst I’ve seen. Oh well, I think we should expect more of that kind of thing with the spread of TiVo and DVRs.
Interesting way to put it. Did you happen to see 30 Rock last night? That’s what the ep was about. Alec Baldwin’s char was encouraging them to incorporate product ads into the script, & he did a spot for GE as well. Tina Fey was arguing that that was a horrible idea & that they shouldn’t do it, but then started going off on how much she loved the Snapple she was drinking & they started talking about that. Then Snapple was popping up all over the ep. Oh, & right after that, the first commercial during the break was for Snapple. It was very well done.
I’ve watched that Sexy Back Office mash (above) so many times, I just had to list off my fav moments in it. In order:
- Michael stepping onto & back down from his desk (3/4 way through, right after Dwight tackles Ryan)
- Anytime Phyllis is dancing (I could watch the very beginning w/ her at the xmas party for hours)
- Pam in the cat suit reacting (fake) to Michael’s costume
- Michael dancing to OPP (hooded sweatshirt) at the Dundees
- Michael in boots, dancing on end table
- Every one of Pam’s expressions
- Dwight pumping himself up in the stairwell before his review
- Angela slapping Dwight (her face as she walks away)
- Kevin wearin the headphones
- Dwight workout ball
- Dwight & Michael, torso side-to-side dancing
- Todd Packer showin his butt
- Dwight shirtless w/ facemask
- Stanley dribbling
- Karen longhorn/devil sign
Man, I can’t believe you didn’t list Dwight giving his speech. What with all the pounding on the podium and such.
I also love Pam getting hit in the face with the paper ball & the look Jim gives her. He’s so cute.
Michael doing something to warm up during the basketball game. Not the one where he’s slapping his knees, the one where he’s swaying his arms.
And I second Dwight bouncing on his workout ball and the Michael Scott step workout.
I feel it necessary to confess that SexyBack is now in rotation at my house, simply b/c when I listen to it I giggle throughout as I envision all the dancing by the Office crew. Is it justified? (not a pun, I *swear*) No. I realize that. But the internet is for confessing to strangers, in accordance to active court orders.
Kevin’s “yessss…” for picking the right ex-con was money.
There’s nothing like having “Stayed tuned for more Earl” mean the Earl credits and the preview of 1 vs. 100 featuring K Fed and B Sag.
Nothing beats the SexyBack video (above), but since Ms. Beesly does indeed have a way about her, here’s another video:
good christmas episode
my highlights
i liked andy and michaels new handshake (hit the rock then explode)
the bros before hos “talking head”
dwight telling the waitress how to cook a goose
and
when michael marked the one chinese girl so he could tell them apart
Saw the show for the second time last thurs (I know….)
Michael: Fool me once, strike one. But fool me twice, strike three.
THAT cracked me up. I may have to watch it again just because of that quote.
I got a laugh out of Beeswax Not Yours, Inc.
to Ben Franklin: “Are you wearing a thong?”
Pam: Didn’t Ben Franklin have syphillis?
Ben Franklin: Yes, but I don’t
http://www.fccnh.org
I believe this is where P&R got married. It’s also the “Glenoak Community Church” (7th Heaven) if I’m not mistaken. It’s right down the road from the Brady residence in case you’re ever in the neighborhood.
From GorillaMask
“Did you know there’s an entire blog dedicated to breaking down each episode of The Office from a corporate liability standpoint? The author estimates the litigation value of the Ben Franklin episode alone at $800,000+”

Dwight Schrute, 007:
http://gorillamask.net/schrute007.shtml
I’ve probably harped on this before. and possibly in this very thread somewhere, but this is the main difference between US boss Michael Scott and UK boss David Brent: David Brent has exactly zero redeeming qualities. Maybe this is again an example of the differences b/t British TV and what American viewers go for.
While self-centered (like Brent), Michael Scott at least shines through sometimes as a genuinely caring person. He’s a bit of a Charlie Brown hero at times, although unwittingly, and viewers want to see him succeed in little ways, like at just being the one to be the decent person. Like last night’s ep, when no one showed up to Pam’s art show, Michael comes, apologizes for being late — well *of course* he would come. Not making it just wasn’t an option to him.
More notes on last night’s ep:
- Creed just kicking back, watching everyone freak out about the bat (I am liking Creed more and more and more)
- MICHAEL: “The more stickers you sell, the more profit — that’s a fancy name for money — you have to buy Playstations, and Beanie-Babies, and…”
- Pam looked so small & humble in front of her art display
- MICHAEL: “You did these? Free-hand? My God, these could be tracings…”
- I also feel the need to say that Dwight’s buffoonery and gullibility is getting a little over the top…
Speaking of David Brent…
Here are a couple videos Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant (co-creators of The Office and Extras) apparently did for Microsoft UK.
[Of course these videos have been removed by order of Microsoft]
Look out world, ol’ Pammy is gettin what she wants!
Once again, things were a little too over the top with Dwight, although him doing the whole home inspection thing was pretty funny. Him hangin on the banister in the background was great, and then him in the kid’s room — “oh good, you’re up… what is this, oak?” (Reminder — Dwight is hosting SNL this week)
And again, I could not be loving Creed more. He stole from the sheriff’s station? Awesome.
The guy (name?) Pam is dating loses it (I didnt see that coming) after she discloses she had kissed Jim. But I laughed out loud when HIS BROTHER, hovering somewhere stage left, runs into the scene & just lets loose with his best, “Hulk Smash!”, imitation — Classic!
Yeah, Creed lives some kind of dark underground secret life. He’s pretty funny.
Didnt catch Dwight on SNL — how was he/the skits?
Yeah, I really appreciated that too. Roy’s brother had no idea what was going on. Just w/o question he rushes over & joins in on the smashing. That is exactly how I picture Ireland.
Skits sucked, as always. The intro wasn’t bad, but that was mostly b/c they did an Office parody. Dwight actually did well. I wonder if he’s done stuff like that before b/c he was really on the ball, seemed really comfortable, just sort of commanded his appearance there. Just wish he had some better material actors to work with there…
And here’s another Dwight video…
i liked the skit where he was the boss and he kept randomly asking people what they thought. “Shark in Pajamas what do you think?
Kev, here’s that skit you liked:
And here’s a video of the monologue, where they spoof The Office:
It’s getting hot in Scranton
Here’s a pretty good Office site I’ve been checkin out here & there…
Q & A with Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute)
‘Office’ role gave star boost that was 14 years coming
FYI — I believe we finally get a new ep of The Office this week, so get back into Office mode, or Pam mode, or whatever that Thursday night ritual is for you…
Creed delivered once again – his embellished recount of the fight was great.
Yeah, Creed just gets better & better, & in very small increments, which I love.
That ending had better just be a joke though. Andy had better not be coming back…
Dwight’s heroism was fantastic.
Seth, this quote is for you:
Wikipedia – it’s Pippity Poppity.
Relatively speaking, I thought last night’s episode was somewhat weak.
i liked it but i am easily entertained.
Michael Scott: i braveheart
and kevin saying to jim you’ve been up here a lot, i mean a lot for three years straight.
I will say this my name is earl cracked me up when randy went on as “crazy head” and was acting like pacman, that was funny.
I agree. This week’s was pretty lame, overall. I liked them betting on stuff though. Kinda like Caddyshack: “Double or nothing the Smails kid picks his nose.”
Dwight Schrute: Jim, could you please inform Andy Bernard that he is being shunned?
Jim Halpert: Andy, Dwight says welcome back and he could use a hug.
Dwight Schrute: Okay, tell him that that’s not true.
Jim Halpert: Dwight says that he actually doesn’t know one single fact about bear attacks.
Dwight Schrute: Okay, no, Jim, tell him bears can climb faster than they can run. [Andy walks away] Jim! Tell him!
Jim Halpert: Andy…nah, he’s too far.
Dwight Schrute: Damn you.
Yeah Kev, I thought of you when I saw that. That bit about bears climbing was awesome…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auEceiMGGk4
I just heard that Jim from the office is dating Renee Zellweger. Yuck!
Save it for your Entertainment Weekly message boards. Of course if you find out Pam is single, feel free to pass that on…
Wow, Creed was awesome last night!! “….the one YEAR I blow it off, this happens.”
http://www.nbc.com/The_Office/video/#mea=90980
pretty funny deleted scenes. the lame “safety training” episode would’ve been alot stronger if they woulda kept a few of these. i really liked the coffee bit w/ andy — “is it fresh?”
Yeah, that was a pretty good Creed episode. Andy really needs to go away again though. I was so happy when he left & now I’m afraid we won’t get lucky twice. & you know, I can’t help but feel like maybe he’s back b/c viewers wanted him back or something. I say this b/c people are stupid so that just makes sense…
Extra long episode tonight!
Extra long episode tonight! (again) Be cool if this became a weekly occurrence
The “extra long,” or “super-sized” (as I really enjoy calling them) eps would bother me if the DVR wasn’t smart enough to get the time changes right. But since it’s picking them up okay, then cool. As long as freaking Jym Ganahl doesn’t talk all over the show…
Something I really don’t like though is stupid NBC saying something like “more Earl after the break” or “more Office” or whatever & then after the commercials they just show us the credits. Umm… does that really qualify as “more???”
Loved everyone singing “the gambler” on the bus
Creed snagging that fish from the lake with his bare hands was great. That was the loudest I’d ever laughed at the Office.
Starts at 8 tonight — hr long.
I hope you all watched the last little bit at the end credits tonight. The Ryan & Kelly part was the best part of the whole episode. Ryan glancing at the camera at the end was money.
michael telling jan’s assistant to tell jan “i just want to squeeze them.” was probably my favorite part.
creedthoughts.com was funny too. did any of you tivo people pause and read what he was writing? i thought that would be interesting.
http://blog.nbc.com/CreedThoughts/
I was getting ready to post the creed thoughts link too. My fav is the Orioles over the Pirates — but that is just me. Hope they make it a weekly log.
Well for the past week i couldn’t find my stapler. today the day the seniors come back for their practice graduation my two “aids” brought me a jello mold with my stapler inside the jello. Kind of like the picture of dwight shrute on the background of my computer.
It was kind of funny.
Kevin, you get a pic of it?
Meant to post this pic Kevin sent me of his stapler:
“I told him once I don’t like jelly… don’t trust the way it moves.”
New season starts one month from tonight. One hour season premiere on Thr, Sept 27. That means weekly showings at Bill’s place begins that night too. Season 3 DVDs come out next week, so maybe we’ll have a marathon before then…
The Office Summer Vacation
In sad Office news, it sounds like (according to her MySpace page) that Jenna (Pam) and her husband are splitting up…
Impressions on the premiere? I’ve only watched it the one time, but I thought it was solid. Creed shone through a few times with his creepiness, which is always nice. It was a good Michael Scott ep too — the rabies stuff, the fettucini alfredo, 5K = 5,000 miles… This was a good kind of ep to start off with b/c it involved most of the characters.
A handful of you came over to watch the premiere. Ping me if you wanna join this week. Always a good time…

New episode tonight.

There was a nice little line in Thursday’s episode when Michael was trying to discourage a potential intern (because he’s a dork) from working at Dunder-Mifflin by giving him other possible jobs. One of them (at least I think I heard right) was “migraine worker.” I like the two levels of stupidity…1) he confused “migraine” with “migrant” and even if he would have gotten it right 2) that the presumably well-off, native-born kid could just choose “migrant worker” as a type of profession.

Best line of the Finale was creed trying to remember his job title. It got replayed on my DVR almost as many times as Stanley chewing out Ryan for “having a crush” on his daughter.
Quabiddy Ash-a-rance. That’s not it, but it’s close…
The recent part I replayed was from the week before when they were at the job faire and Michael said something nice about Pam and then said, “but I’d never tell her that.” And Oscar goes, “why would you not tell her that?” Oscar’s part was just brilliantly executed. I gained so much respect for that dude after that line. So well done…
I need to watch the finale again, but overall it was solid. Plenty of conflict, and the “Kevin is slow” stuff was great, although they really didn’t need to enhance it toward the end; it was funnier when you could say, well geez, this really just is the way he normally acts.
if i did that wrong here is teh URL:

It’s funny cause it’s racist
It was just darn funny – thanx, Kev.
From the British Dwight…

This is a terrible idea. Here’s more info though…
It’s interesting that Kevin’s link specifies that it’s from the “creator of the American version of The Office” and doesn’t mention the two geniuses behind the show. Maybe Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant don’t support this one…
Well, The Office didn’t win the Emmy, but they can take some consolation in the fact that Howie Mandel didn’t either.

Who’s ready for some Office tonight? (That’s your reminder.) It’s an hour long and supposedly focuses on a company-wide weight loss program.
cant wait! starts at 9?
As long as it’s better than Heroes was on Monday, I’m excited!
Boy I dunno. As I understand it, Heroes is pretty funny.
Here’s the ASCII Dwight from this week’s ep:
I think maybe my favourite moment of the British version is when Gareth chimes in on David’s song and David corrects him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JitDWQI9qc
Scott, that’s a very good call, and one of my favourite parts as well. When I watched back through the series last month I had that part in my head for a long time. And Tim looks like a muppet when he’s singing. And Keith clapping is good too… Actually, that’s just a very solid episode, with the HR or team-building guy or whatever he was. In fact, the related link on that video you posted is a vid of another brilliant part of that ep, when they’re role-playing.
Last night’s episode was so-so. I liked how angry Andy got when Dwight acted like he from Cornell.
I think it was last week’s that had me laughing out loud when Dwight was giving birth to a watermelon.
There have been good moments this season, but they really need to stop forcing the Pam-Jim subplot. This is exactly why they never should’ve let them get together. The tension would’ve been much more entertaining.
I’ll be okay if last night was the last time we see that HR lady too. They need to get back to basics. Ryan’s back, bring Pam back home too, call off the engagement, reel Dwight back a bit… And it’s time for some Todd Packer.
I can’t STAND Todd Packer. I know you don’t care for Andy, but he’s so annoying that I find him funny. They haven’t had Jim vs. Dwight as often either….it’s been more of just Andy vs Dwight, which is still funny.
I totally agree with what you said about the whole Jim & Pam thing. They need to back off on the whole relationshippy stuff including the HR lady & Michael Scott.
Some people happen to like the relationshippy stuff…
That episode of the British Office with the customer service trainer is by far my favorite episode of any show. The song and the role play are so solid. I also enjoy the conversation about using stamps as currency.
Probably not the thread to post this, but I saw an episode of the Chocolate News a couple days ago and it was very solid.
Granted, but I think dudes’ point is that they don’t want it to invade great comedies like The Office, because you could have that shtuff in any
lousyquality show, such as your Grey’s or your…what the devil do the ladies watch…Hell’s Kitchen.I watch some very ‘un-chick’ like shows, The Unit, Without a Trace, various flavours of Law & Order… and even on those shows there is some element of mushy relashionshippy stuff. It’s never the focus, but it always comes into play somehow.
I have to agree though, the Pam and Jim thing was better when it was a “will-they-won’t-they” situation. (Even though I kind of love Jim and had a major “awwww” chick moment when he proposed.)
And now that I think about it, this season of Dexter is more lame now that they decided to make Dexter engaged and balance domesticity with justifiable assassination… hmmm….
Here’s a good montage of the various romances in *both* versions of The Office. But best of all it’s set to the studio version of David Brent’s Freelove Freeway (I couldn’t find the track for purchase anywhere but there are torrents out there if you must have it).
Oh, BTW, spoiler alert for that first link (the montage) if you haven’t watched the UK ver of The Office (Chris, I’m lookin at you). So don’t watch the first link if you don’t wanna see what happens with the relationships on that show yet.
The studio version is pretty believable.. I think it would blend in pretty readily on the radio. I do, however, miss Gareth’s energizing backup vocals. (“She’s not dead.”)
I actually thought they did a really good job on the episode that was on after the Super Bowl. The writing has been a little poor lately, but I think it picked back up in this one (except, again, the Pam and Jim parts). Here are some good moments:
Creed: “What’s a text?”
Kevin looting the snack machine.
Kelly getting up and dancing to Stayin Alive.
Kelly wishing Michael happy birthday during his roast.
Michael thinking that YouTube is a television studio or something.
Oscar yelling in spanish during the roast.
Dwight: “Why are you wearing a turtleneck?”
This week’s two episodes were rather good, I thought. I was disappointed that Vikram didn’t stick around longer though. He would’ve made a good addition for a while.
This was a good grammar lesson:
from teh golden ticket episode
this was funnier when on tv than it is written down
Michael: Well you know what Jim? It is not my fault that you bought a house to impress Pam. That is why carnations exist.
Creed: That’s not why.
From the deleted scenes of UK Office season 1
Asking someone ‘to stop discussing how to get in the mindset of a wolf’ is really just asking too much….
In my mind, the Office premiere Thursday was kind of overshadowed by the Sunny premiere, but I still thought it was pretty enjoyable. But once again the Jim/Pam nonsense had me grumbling. I have no interest in continuing to see all that fairy tale crap. They need to throw a decent curve ball at that plot line. Time to kill off Jim, I suppose.
(Gasp!) No, don’t kill Jim… maybe Pam should run off with Andy… that would be a curve ball..
This is what they were doing at the beginning:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkour
Michael: “I hate, hate being left out. Whether it’s not being picked for a team… or being picked for a team and then showing up and realizing the team doesn’t exist. Or that the sport doesn’t exist! I should’ve known. ‘Poop ball’?”
Kevin: What an awesome party. The best wedding I’ve ever been to. I got six numbers. One more, would’ve been a complete telephone number.
Kevin: Oooh, now do the Swedish chef!
Andy: I’m not familiar, what province is he from?
Kevin: He lives on Sesame Street, you dumbass.
This almost makes me wish I’d watched an awards show: Ricky Gervais Hosting the Golden Globes
Seriously, NBC? A clip show?
“This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Dick Clark Productions, Inc.. ”
Darn you and your stroke-paralysis, Dick Clark.
Pam wants to delay her labor, so the gang is trying do the opposite of labor-inducing techniques:
Erin: Number three, eat spicy foods.
Michael: Okay, the opposite of that?
Kevin: Stick spicy food up her butt…
Dwight: Security in this office park is a joke. Last year I came to work with my spud-gun in a duffle bag. I sat at my desk all day with a rifle that shoots potatoes at 60 pounds per square inch. Can you imagine if I was deranged?
I started watching Undeclared again and Pam has a bit part in the pilot ep.
