Did anybody hear about G.I.Joe being made into a movie? Not in theaters until Aug09 but still an interesting thought. Hollywood is running out of ideas and it seems is trying to play “comeback kid” with our generation’s hero’s growing up (Transformers, Marvel comics). I did find this though and IMDB has a cast listing.

When this video came out I remember watching it over and over again to find some 50 references to Beatle history. Wikipedia says there’s 80-100. I can’t find nearly that many.

I know this video was mentioned several times in above posts, but I wanted to post a quick link here for Scott to check out Weezer’s Buddy Holly. (Some people were trying to describe the song to him while he had an unimpressed look on his face)

(At this point in this comment I spent way too long looking for a picture of those old blue headphones we used in elementary school.  I was unsuccessful.)
I also thought this picture was really cute.

I thought I’d dig up this antique post by posting this webpage that made me get really excited and then laugh outloud for approximately 7 seconds. I found a Monopoly competition in Ohio if anyone is interested (and if you’re still alive).

Wow.

Some things really annoy me about that article, Kevin.

How does Rod Parsley have the authority to divy out “blessings” if people send him money? And what is a blessing, according to Rod? “God’s favor, good health, and stress-free homes”. In my opinion, there is nothing I can do to gain God’s favor. I’m a sinner and am only counted as something because of Christ’s death on the cross. How is good health a blessing? If being healthy is a blessing does that mean people with cancer are cursed? For Christians, death is the gateway into heaven, so in a way death could be considered a blessing. Has there ever been a stress-free home? Every home has some form of dysfunction, and oftentimes people need stress in their life to learn and grow (and not be completely boring).

Is it right for a church to sue someone? I tend to think not. The only verse I found on that was from Matthew 5:40 which says “And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.”

Also, if anyone ever touched my child in a way that left “welts and abrasions”, I probably wouldn’t sue them for $3.1 million, I’d beat the living daylights out of them.

I think what frustrates me the most about this guy is that a lot of people assume that he represents the typical Christian in America.

Why hasn’t Kanye been arrested for Cocaine abuse yet? Isn’t it obvious at this point? As fas as I’m concerned that man should just go away.

also must say Bill Cosby, Jerry Seinfeld…. I think Robin Williams was fine for 5 minutes but watching him too long makes me want to take a Valium.

May not have this in the right thread… But I do feel like being a Christian I am targeted pretty easily as someone who is not “tolerant” of other religions and therefore I am classified as a Jesus-freak, goody two shoes, homophobe (if that is an actual word – which it is NOT), and against women’s rights. Someone told me about this episode of House the other day and it was very impactful. I have this short clip from it that I never heard about (yes it is a surgery but it is amazing).
Pretty much the premise is that a life affirming photographer 5 months pregnant has a medical emergency and Dr. House assures her that if she does not have an abortion she will die as well as her fetus (refusing to use the term “baby”). The woman adamantly refuses the procedure. They finally discover that if the fetus were to have a risky surgery while en-utero they both could survive. House performs the surgery and it leaves us this clip…

At the end of the episode, the mother visits Dr. House’s office and he then speaks of her “baby”. I thought this ending was particularly nice…

So, just want to give a shout out to all the pro-lifers out there. “say hey…ho!”

Stinky and Kevin, you two have found some awesome album covers. I love the one with The Faith Tones. I wonder if I would’ve owned that album back then. For some reason, Christian folk albums from the 60’s or around that time period tend to creep me out a little because it reminds me of the special I saw on Jim Jones. His church had a singing group called the People’s Temple Choir seen here :

It’s the fifth album down in the list.
